My good friend, Laura is getting married next month and her wedding shower was on Saturday. My friend Hillary flew in from San Fran on Friday for the event. The 3 of us met working at camp in 1996 and still love hanging out, although life has changed for all of us. The shower was outdoors at a friend's house. It turned out to be a nice day and many of Laura's friends came to celebrate.
Alysun, Hillary, and Laura on Saturday
Hillary and Russell (7 months). Emma really enjoyed baby Russell. He is a cutie and I think he liked Emma too, just had to think through all the kisses and hugs. It was more attention from a cute little girl than he had ever experienced.
The food turned out! I was a little worried about my cakes, but they tasted good and a couple people even asked for the recipes (a cooks favorite compliment). I made a flour-less chocolate cake and a lemon bunt cake. On Friday morning, before I had to leave for the airport, I went to "turn out" the cake from the bunt pan. I used my rose pan and even greased the non-stick pan! It WOULD NOT come out! I was almost in tears when Jeff called and said he was coming home for a minute to say good bye to us. I cried out my problem to him and he saved the day. He put the cake upside down on a cutting board and slammed it hard against the floor. It sounded like a gun-shot and I was convinced the cake was lost. He gently removed the pan and their stood a perfect cake. I thanked my ingenious husband profusely and was ready to go. What a relief!!
