I just finished a baby quilt for a friend. My "helper" was eager to cut, pin, iron, and sew with me. Teaching and tolerating her are time consuming tasks. How easy my life was before this precious child.
I heard a quote once that said, "You are defined by your reaction to any given situation." I've pondered the thought many times, realizing that my first reaction tells what is truly in my heart even if I don't vocalize it. Now I have also come to understand, by watching my child imitate me, that I am defined by how I am modeled. From doing the dishes, to talking about her father and other family members, to stomping up the stairs, and sighing when I am irritated. She copies the good, the bad and the ugly from my life. It is a privilege and an honor and terrifying!
