abor Day is here and still I am not laboring. We went to the fair yesterday and walked around a bit to encourage things along. It obviously didn't work, but I did wake up with a cold this morning. Oh, the joys.
A funny thing happened while I was sitting on a bench at the fair, waiting for Jeff to bring me an ice cream cone. I was people watching, one of my favorite things to do, especially at such a culturally diverse place. I saw a large family of non-English speaking people approaching my bench, all talking at once. They seemed overjoyed to find a wide open bench in the shade where they could sit. That is when one lady sat on me and the others piled all around me. The lady sitting on me gave me a "Where did you come from look," and moved to squish beside me. I continued to meld in with this family, quite amused that no one seemed to notice the tall, white, extremely pregnant lady. They soon moved on and I was once again alone. Then, a man came and sat about 6 inches away from me (keep in mind, there was about 4 feet of room on either side of my tall, white, extremely pregnant figure where a person could sit). This man then took out a cigarette and started smoking. Deciding against a confrontation with the man, I got up and moved. When my wonderful husband returned, he had no trouble spotting me and I asked him, "So, you can see me? I am not invisible?" For a few moments I was quite concerned that I had acquired a super-power and made myself disappear. If I had in fact acquired super-powers, I would have instantly transported myself to a day where I was holding my beautiful baby girl after a long, strenuous labor, that I conveniently don't remember. No such luck.

I was at Disneyland once and a group of non-English speaking people was behind us in line for Space Mountain. This lady with a huge belly (she must have given birth to many children in her younger years) kept bumping into me. Basically, she just measured her progress through the line by making sure she was always belly-up to me. Funny how personal space is a non-issue in other cultures . . .

Anyway, all this talk about having a baby soon and finding out her name is so exciting! Not so exciting that I want to do it again, but still VERY exciting!!

Lay down and put your feet up this Labor Day! Make sure your toenails are painted and pig out on the most sinful meal you can get your husband to make. These are the final days . . .

Your experience with that large family in the park sounds like a scene from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". I can't believe she actually sat on you. You might just have made the day of some other people watcher looking for some peace just like yourself. I know I wasn't there but the mental picture is quite entertaining. Anyway, sorry to hear about your cold. I've had one for the last few days. I think it might be on the way out...hopefully. I've been thinking and praying for you that that little baby girl of yours comes at the right time and is healthy. I guess that's a type of super power we can tap into. :) Just, maybe don't wear a cape around the house...you might get people talking. :)

I would have noticed you, even if you weren't pregnant :) In fact, I would probably make a big deal about running into you. Hope you enjoy the rain today!
