Happy New Year!

New Year’s Eve has come and gone. It wasn’t our most exciting ever. I am sick. Emma is sick. Mandy is sick. And Jeff is sick and tired of us being sick. We have a nasty cold accompanied by sore throat and cough. I was asleep on the couch at 8:30 last night. I remember Jeff bringing me the baby to feed at about 11pm, but I think we both went to bed at that point. I told him, “Happy New Year,” when I got up to get Mandy at 2am. Instead of toasting with champagne, I gargled with salt water.

It got me thinking on past New Year’s – back when I was young and free and staying up until midnight was no big deal. One year I went with Hillary and Laura with Laura’s family to Long Beach and we celebrated the end of the millennium. We sat in the hot tub, walked on the beach and encountered a bunch of people dressed up as Santa Clause. There was a whole group of them, probably 20 or so, drunk out of the minds, handing out condoms. It was quite memorable. For some reason, we thought it was appropriate to get our pictures taken with the drunk santas. We have the picture to laugh at now.

So, nothing so exciting this year. Happy 2008! What is your most memorable New Year’s Eve?

No kidding!! I looked at those Santa pictures today when I was sorting out old photos! I didn't think I should scrapbook them but I couldn't throw them out, either;-)
