Things I Learned This Week

Life with a newly newborn is pretty scary whether it is baby #1 or baby #4.

Newborn poop smells fresh as daisies compared to toddler poop.

Birthing at home is really, really great.

My 4th child didn't "fly out" as others have reported.

If a noble woman is worth more than rubies, then a helpful and kind husband is worth more than a mountain of gold.

I'm in love.... Again. This process never fails to amaze me.

I would give my life for a cranky little baby I met only a few days ago.

I do not miss anything about being pregnant.

The large bottle of Tums I bought days before the birth will last through the next 2 decades. Goodbye heartburn -- I won't miss you.

Sometimes God answers prayers quickly, like me begging Him for an early baby instead of late.

Sometimes He just gives the strength to endure, like the physical pain of labor, cramping, strained back, and engorgement.

"'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me." II Corinthians 12:4

I could not have made it through the week without my mother.

"Can I hold the baby?" is the phrase of the week.

I love that "poop" made it into the "what I have learned" segment! TOTALLY TRUE. What a beautiful family! I can feel the love right off my computer screen.

Four BEAUTIFUL children. My heart squeezes with jealously and is also in rapt admiration of you. You a Jeff are such a great gift to your kids. The "flying out" comment made me laugh :)

I was wondering why you hadnt posted on awhile. Gosh it's not like taking care of three children and giving birth is that demanding. JP. Seriously though congratulations. As I struggle with my one I am amazed at how you handle now four. His grace truly is sufficient. I am so thankful for your sake that God answered your prayer for an early(but not too early) delivery. BTW Im DYING to know what his name is. Please share. Heather Davis

Looks like the older kids are in "love" too. I hope you got some pictures of Jeff holding Tommy also. I am very excited we get to meet the newest "little man." Jenni B

I love the list. So true about the poop. So true about #4 being scary. So true about the aches and pains, unfortunatley. So true about the love...oh the love...even if there is a little cranky one causing the emotions. Sounds so much like our #4 'Thomas'! I'm guessing this labor went quick, but I will wait with baited breath for the juicy details. Oh, the details :) So glad you have had wonderful help this past week - soak it up!

Congratulations on your early baby! What a gift. He looks adorable. It is nice to know that a mother can fall in love with her baby, even when it is #4. Enjoy!
