The answers...

We've had lots of visitors and I am frequently getting asked the same questions. Here are my completely honest and hormonally deranged answers:
How ARE you doing? Please do not ask a woman who has
just given birth this question. You really can't handle the truth. If you have
children, you must have forgotten that it is really hard work to get your body
and life adjusted after a baby arrives. I've had very little sleep for almost a week, my body hurts, and I am glad that you are here and showing us kindness, but all I want to do it take a nap.
Is she a
good baby? Do you mean, is she beautiful, wonderful, and
perfect? Then, yes. She is all those things. Do you mean, is she easy? No. She
is not an easy baby. She defies MY logic, wants to eat constantly, sucks too
shallow, doesn't sleep for more than half an hour at a time, and poops just
after I have changed her.

Does Emma like
her new sister?
Yes, she loves all babies. The baby
is still a novelty, but Emma has been an only child for almost 3 years. They
were good years for her and now she is sharing everything. This is one of life's
adjustments that I, as a parent, am doing my best to help her cope with... to
the best of her still-2-year-old abilities.

You forgot, "How is she sleeping?"

I always just said, "Like a baby!" That always made them pause . . . Of course, then they would jump in with tales of how THEIR child slept through the night from the first time they brought them home from the hospital. I just wanted to kill those people . . .

I love your candid answers! :o)

hehe. My least favorite question was "is he a good baby?" Let's see, he's got acid reflux and is lactose intollerant, spends every waking moment crying...But then he curls up on my shoulder and snores in my ear, and I just can't stand it I love him so much.

Maybe you should print these out and hand them to all the people who come by. I'm afraid I am guilty of all of them at one time or another, but remember many people really do want the honest answer to them, and you'll get more prayers if you tell the unvarnished truth!!

our Mom is so right. And yes, you do need some rest. We're keeping all of you in our prayers.

Jess, it is Andee in that picture. But thanks for thinking I could be so skinny 6 hours after delivering!

No, at least I haven't forgotten how hard it was, after having Josh who STILL doesn't sleep through the night, the second time around I think I just had lower expectaions of how the baby should eat, sleep, and how I should feel ;) Expect the worst and when something goes right you can call it a blessing. Easier said then done I agree, but it makes for a happier mommy.
