"I wa baby pas!"

While waiting for Emmaleigh to be born, I completed the nursery, painting, decorating and sewing. I washed all those tiny pink clothes in Dreft and folded them perfectly in the drawers. It stayed perfect for months – I even changed the sheet in the crib because it got dusty. This time around, the new baby already has a roommate who is pilfering through all the new kid’s stuff. I got out those tiny pink clothes and put them in the drawers, but they didn’t stay there. They have become a new wardrobe for Emma’s baby dolls and I have already done many loads of laundry with toddler and baby clothes mixed (those baby dolls have poopy diapers all the time!). The clothes are changed on the dolls multiple times a day (by me, of course), while Emma watches. She can take them off, but not put them on at this point – I am choosing my battle. The other day I put Emma down for a nap and thought she went right to sleep…. she obviously didn’t. When she got up from her nap, her first words were, “I wa baby pas!.” She excitedly modeled her new tight pants – infant size. My first reaction was to laugh and I did. I laughed and laughed. This encouraged her and she wore the pants for about an hour. Finally she tugged them off saying, they “owed.” Ya, I would think so. The waist band left a red mark around her belly and she could hardly bend her legs. In the past few days, she has put the pants on a few more times looking for a reaction. She still looks pretty funny, but I control myself and ignore the new style. Now, she just takes them off, laughing as she says, “No wa baby pas.”

Oh my goodness. This is one hilarious tale. Yet the one thing that stuck out to me is that you wash the doll clothes because of pretend poopy diapers.

Perhaps I should have explained better... Emma puts the clothes down the laundr shoot and most the time, actual dirty clothes and dirty dish rags land on top of them. It is only as I am doing the laundry I see the clothes, do a sniff/moisture test and decide whether to wash them or not. I have encountered enough REAL poop in my days to know the pretend.

I still can't stop laughing over this one. She looks like she ciould be a bcyclist. I'm not sure which leg of the tour de Frace awards the pink jersey. Or why the ruffled pants haven't caught on. They make a way better fashon statement than the padded butt spandex.

This is really cute and funny. I love the ruffled buns!

Reminds me of when Wyatt recently tried on his baby sweater that he came home from the hospital in. It kinda looked like those new short sweaters that tie in front, you know, the ones that are popular these days.
