Things I am thankful for today...

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ is Jesus." Phil 4:6-7

  1. I love Consignment Stores. For Emma I got 3 pairs of jeans, a pair of dress pants, a long-sleeved t-shirt, Carter's dressy sweater, dress shoes, and a Gap jumper, and for the baby I got 2 pairs of pj's and I spent less than $40 for everything.
  2. Everyday Display from Creative Memories. I put this cool frame up in my dining room and have lots of pictures displayed in it--the perfect thing for my wall!
  3. This book: Raising Your Spirited Child, by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka, "Persistence is the temperamental trait that plays a major role in power struggles. Spirited kids need, want, and seek power. As parents we must learn to choose our battles wisely. We don't have to fight every day. At a very young age, children are already demonstrating drive and goal orientation. By recognizing it, we can teach them to channel the persistence appropriately -- to use it as an asset rather than a weapon."(Page 93) This book has been a real encouragement to me as I continue to deal with my 2 year-old's persistence. Everything in this very long, scholastic read enforces the concept that "spirit" is a good thing. It's a good reminerIt is hard to remember that in the middle of a tantrum.

Happy Birthday Tawny! It doesn't look like we are going to get our wish of a baby on your birthday. Have a good day anyway!

Hahaha, I purposefully did not look at your blog until now, just confident that you were in the hospital. Oh well, you will have the baby when it is the right time. It's a great day!

p.s. Can you put a photo up of the Display frame in your dining room? I am a sucker for decorating...

Good to count your blessings while waiting. I'm glad you've got a good book and of course we pray for both of you and Emma all the time. She has amazing potential!

Yeah, I want to see your frame, too! It looks very nice on the website, but I want to see it in action!
