I am thankful for...

I woke up in a bad mood this morning. Instead of whining and complaining, like I want to do, I will make a list of what I am thankful for.

It all started after a wonderful date with my husband alone last night. After we returned home and got the kids in bed, my bed was so comfy for only a short time. Mandy woke crying in the middle of the night, feverish, tugging at her ear, and inconsolable. I finally got some Motrin in her and nursed her back to sleep. At 6:30 this morning Emma woke and found the open bottle of Motrin and chugged down half a bottle. There were spankings (as you recall this is not her first medicine overdose offence), time out, tears, screams, and more time out. Now, I not only have a sick baby who may need to go the doctor, but also a whiny, Motrin-overdosed kid and I have to go to the store and by more for Mandy in case her fever comes back.

I regress -- I was going to write out my blessings list:

· I am thankful I have enough money to buy more Motrin

· I am thankful there is medical care available in case of emergencies

· I am thankful my bed was warm and welcoming during my short stay there last night

· I am thankful for the sunshine this morning

· I am thankful for my husband who took me out to dinner last night

· I am thankful for friends who send me emails

· I am thankful for the pictures I took of Emma when she was happy to remind me why I took this job

that's a doozy Alysun! I love your thankful spirit. I don't know if I would be as positive as you are - given the circumstances!

Whew! You deserve to whine a little, but I appreciate your attempt to be thankful in the midst of irritating circumstances!
