Here is a picture of me and Emma infront of a giant pile of barkdust. She was giving me a kiss and saying, "Happy mother's day." But it looks like she is trying to bite me. Lovely child.
I got my hearts desire for 3 years now: barkdust. I love the way fresh bark dust looks and smells. It make my flowerbeds sing, making everything look uniform and lovely. What I don't enjoy is spreading barkdust. Thanks to my industrious husband and Emma, they spread all the 14 yards of barkdust in 2 evenings. For all you who have no idea how much 14 yards of barkdust is, I will save you the trip to get out your old algebra book and tell you it is roughly a pile the size of a mid-sized sedan. You just don't want to sit in it like you would sit in a mid-sized sedan. Emma sat in the barkdust and then complained that she had slivers. I saw her walking around the side of the house with her pants off and that is what led me to say, "Emma, you need to wear pants when you spread barkdust." She was good as new after a bath, but you can learn from her mistakes. Pants, and gloves too, are a good idea when spreading slivery things like barkdust.
