I really wanted a lounge chair. I wanted one 5 summers ago. I wanted one 4, 3, and 2 summers ago. I also wanted one last summer. I even pleaded with my husband to buy me one, but he kept forgetting and bought me diamonds instead. There was no way I was going to say, "But I wanted a lounge chair," when Mr. Practical splurged on something so nice. Then, my plan was to buy one at the end of season or in the winter when they are half off. I came so close to buying one at Lowe's for half off of $199 in January. But seriously, who wants to spend $100 on a beautiful iron lounge chair with festive tangerine cushions when it is 30 degrees and hailing outside? Not me. I would rather have a new coat, or new jeans or a 8 quart stainless mixing bowl from Pampered Chef.
So I found myself actually drooling over a $45 white lounge chair at Bi-Mart just last week. I sat in for quite awhile while my children dismantled the store. It was so comfortable. I sure was wishing I hadn't bought the new coat, the new jeans AND the 8 quart stainless mixing bowl. I thought, "Maybe for Mother's Day...". Usually Mother's Day gifts around these parts consist of hurriedly made cards still wet with Elmer's glue and fantastically special waffles for breakfast in bed. I was giving up hope and actually envisioned myself again this summer sitting in a regular deck chair with my legs propped up on another, no head support for s sleepy pregnant lady, no lounging allowed! Woe is me...
Today I was dropping off a bunch of junk I purged this week at a great thrift store in town, H20. And there I saw it, a beautiful white lounge chair. All it needed was a little scrubbing and it would be perfect for my lounging needs. I asked the price... $5. I scrounged up $5 pretty quick and stuffed the chair in the back of my ever-so-practical van.
I think if you listen carefully, you can actually hear angels singing. I love, love, love a good deal. I bet someone gave this chair to H2O back in January when they fell in love with the pretty iron chair with the tangerine cushions at Lowe's. Now we are all happy and especially me. Bring on the summer!

That's awesome. I'm sure you'll get good use out of it this summer....or even this weekend. It's so nice out!
Make sure you get another picture of it after it is covered in Crayola markers, popsicle juice, and two little girls slathered in sunscreen! Glad the sun is shining!!
Yay for a good deal! I love it when that happens :) I'm sure you'll get a lot of use out of that comfy looking chair.
and today was a good day to use it :) Jenni Birch
That is so cool! I got a coffee table set from a garage sale for $5 once, and it we weren't even planning on going to the garage sale (it was a huge school sale and we were meeting someone there to give them a ride).
I'm still waiting for some patio furniture in the backyard. If I want to sit in the back yard I have to sit at a tiny toddler picnic table, or rummage around in the garage for a camping chair. Usually I just take a blanket out to sit on. Maybe I'll mention patio furniture for Mother's day this year. :)
What a great time to get such a great find! I hope you were able to "break it in" and use it a bunch this beautiful sunny afternoon!
Between the girls, the new baby coming, blogging, cooking, teaching, quilting, scrapbooking, photographing,MOPing, wifing, etc. when on EARTH do you have time to "lounge"? I am glad you now have a dedicated place when the time does make itself available. You are an inspiration!
