Top 10 "Bad Boy" Names

Great. Just when we thought we had enough to worry about while trying to figure out a boy name. Read this article. We are no closer to deciding on a name for baby boy! But "Garland" is definitely out. A friend of mine just had a baby and it took her and her husband 2 additional days to finalize the little guy's name (and he was 9 days late). I can see this happening to us. Boy names are hard to figure out. The name has to be strong, masculine, it has to be worthy, your husband must have no whussy males from his past with that name, and now add to that the name must not be something that will some day land him in prison....

I would hate to be the "Garland" who ends up in prison, not a pretty fate. Although Rick says they don't use first names in Prison, perhaps the reason he changed his name to Richard Dean from Richard Butts, you figure the nickname....

Whatever you decide will be perfect and suit him just right.

Reminds me of the of the Johnny Cash song "A boy named Sue!" It is funny how the pressure is so much greater with boys.

Makes me so happy that I won the Dutch name debate! Good luck working on finding a name you both like, I know it can be a huge challenge!

I read an article similar to this awhile ago. Honestly, this stuff is one of the reasons Kevin and I prefer the tried and true names in their normal spellings - we want people to be able to pronounce them, we want people to be able to spell them easily, we don't want our child to be teased for their name...and we don't want our child to become a delinquent! =)

But obviously, how a child turns out is much more about how he is raised than what his name is. As the article touched on, lower-income/less-schooled parents tend to pick the more creative names and statistically children coming from homes like that have a higher chance of becoming delinquent.

A final comment, since when is "Luke" an uncommon, oddball name?
