A Minivan Mama's Mother's Day

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
 ~Rajneesh

Because of these children, those dark circles are hard-earned. I haven't slept past 7am in 5 and a half years.

Because of these children I have gained 130 pounds combined through their pregnancies. I've lost all but 15 pounds of it.

Because of them I drive a minivan instead of a sport's car.

Because of them I forget make-up, long for a shower, cry out to God for strength, cook when I don't feel like it, clean what I just cleaned, conjole, inform, and disciple.

Because of them I am dripping with love from their faithful hugs and wet kisses. Their tenacity teaches me patience. Their exuberience teaches me joy. Their messiness teaches me to have rubber gloves close at hand.

I'm thankful for each moment of each day that I am surrounded by my 3 beautiful children. It is a precious gift to be found worthy of being a mother.

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there who are overworked and underpaid by the world's standard. But loved unconditionally by the One who counts.

"... let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."
Heb. 12:1
