In Silhouette

I was recently inspired by a friend's creativity. It's a good thing Jill doesn't have a blog because I would probably become an obsessive fan *stalker*. This girl's craft projects make Martha look tame.

The silhouettes on the left were created by Jill and she told me they were "really easy." In layman's terms, it might take a few hours, your religion, and give you a few emergency room worthy paper cuts, but it's really easy.

Silhouettes are so classy, so aristocratic. Just like my kids (in my imagination). I visualized a similar display in my home. I just had to try it!

I haven't gotten around to taking purposeful silhouette images of my kids, but this one of Rem just happened so I figured I would give it a go.

First I printed out the picture of Sir Remington and then taped it onto a piece of black construction paper. Jill's only advice was to make sure to cut the details like hair and eye lashes crisp. My sewing scissors weren't cutting it, so I switched to nose-hair trimming scissors.

Who says we aren't classy and aristocratic around here?

The whole project actually took about 10 minutes. It was easier than I expected and so darn fun to watch my little man transform into a regal work of art.

My husband actually burst out laughing when he saw it, saying, "It doesn't quite suit his personality." Sir Remington, our beloved toilet plunger playing, toy throwing, dirt wallowing son.

It's good for a classy decor statement.... or a good laugh (audience subjective).

Now to make silhouettes of the girls.

I might hang them all together someplace like Jill's or I might leave this the way it is.

The girls have a wall of fame/shame of their own on the other side of the window.

I just need 10 minutes and time to get over the fear of a few more paper cuts.

I love it! I did this for my mil a few years back. I did the three brothers, it was hard to find the right kind of photo, so I agree to do your girls now...before they grow up too much!

10 minutes!!?? You're Martha the crafting hurricane! I think it took me a little longer to get one done :) I love it! You did a great job, and I love the bigger size. Thanks for the 'spot light'...the inner hidden blogger in me thanks you ;) Good luck with the others!

You did a great job "finishing" it at the bottom! I would have been lost once I got to the neck. So cute both of you!
