The Hiding Place

I just finished The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom, with Elizabeth and John Sherrill. The book is a biography/autobiography and history set in Holland from 1939-1945. The powerful story isn’t just about WWII. It teaches handling separation, getting along with less, security in the midst of insecurity, forgiveness, how God can use weakness, dealing with difficult people, facing death, loving your enemies, and what to do when evil wins. I really enjoyed reading the book and couldn’t put it down; it made me laugh and cry. It’s an easy read and isn’t too gruesome. It was a great reminder of how God is in control of every circumstance. My favorite part was when they arrived at a new barracks in a concentration camp and they found over crowding and flee infested sleeping mats. Corrie’s sister says they should be thankful in all circumstances and then prays, thanking God for all the women who they were sharing the barracks with and the flees. Corrie says, no way am I thankful for those flees. Later they learn that the guards stayed clear of that barracks because of the flees and they were able to have prayer meetings every night with freedom.
It's a good read!

I read this book when it first came out and couldn't give it up. Sounds like this is a good reminder to take it off the shelf and read it through again. Awesome story!
