The new dress

There are many injustices in this world that I could complain about, like why our news tells us nothing about the major natural disaster in Asia that has 60,000+ people dead or missing.

The problem I am now going to bring you is quite insignificant:

I bought a dress online for a good deal, $20 instead of $59 regular price. The dress I saw pictured is at the left. (Thanks for momentarily thinking that the picture of the statuesque model on the left is me. I am not that tan and I never wear that high of a heal.)

When I got the dress, I tried it on and found that it was too short. "Too short" is not a foreign concept to me, but it never fails to disappoint me. I have bought countless pairs of pants hoping they would stretch in the wash. It has never, ever worked. In fact, I spent both of my pregnancies walking in high waters.

Back to the dress. I love it. It is my favorite vibrant color of chocolate brown. Yes, chocolate brown can be vibrant in my world. It fits like a dream, except for the length, and I feel pretty when I have it on. Of course I have not worn it out in public yet because of the length. I need your help. What should I do? I have a poll in the sidebar for your convenience, but please feel free to comment a brilliant suggestion.

I'm not even as tall as you are but I feel your pain! I've found that Maurices carries jeans with 36inch inseam for $29.

Who is Maurice and where can I find jeans for that cheap???

Aly, your dress dilemma is not an uncommon one for myself. I don't think it's too short at all, but if you are going to be MODEST about the subject, then its cute as a tunic for sure, as ling as its with skinny jeans/khakis and not a wide leg. I wear dresses with jeans all the time!

I think it looks great. I would add a layer of trim to the bottom (lace, etc.) to make it longer so you're more comfortable. There is also a dress at Gap that is $29.99 right now that is cute. It comes in grey, pink and navy. Ties in the back. Empire waist.kind of v-neck with 2 layers on top.T-shirt material. The pink is see-through though.Fits great and is cute.

How about something like this underneath:

I used to think that these kind of capri leggings were juvenile - but I've seen more and more women our age wearing them. I have a couple too short things that I wore before baby - and I'm thinking about getting some.

As above, you could hem it a little, and just wear with jeans or longer shorts. I have a dress with the same problem but I just wear it around the house when it gets super hot.

the tunic thing would definitely work with skinny jeans as Tawny said. Even matching leggings with flat shows would be uber cute.

At first, when I looked I didn't think it looked "too short" but after reading everyone elses comments, you can do some really cute things with it. I would keep it!

What does your husband think? Model it for him, and see his reaction. From my experience, it usually helped me to decide.
Grandma B It is very cute!!

Have you decided what to do with it yet? I would say to ask Jeff if he thinks it is too short. I always ask Kevin when it comes to modesty issues - if he doesn't want me to wear it in public, I don't. But if Jeff does think it's too short, it sounds like your friends gave you some great ideas that will still allow you to keep it!
