mullet-ish

Mandy's hair has issues theses days and I am afraid it is a little mullet-ish. I've seen other little girl's go through this stage and emerge on the other side with long flowing locks. Should I trim it or let it grow?

I took a few pictures to prove my point and get my blog audience's unwavering guidance. I'm not sure that "unwavering" is really a compliment, but I appreciate your opinions all the same.

So you see she has little wispy hairs trailing down her collar. I am tempted, very tempted to take the scissors to her, but then she will have hair like Emma. Emma has hair that doesn't grow and she's had the same hair style for 3.75 years -- ever since she grew a mullet and I whacked it off.

Since I never endured the mullet stage with Emma, I just don't know what to do. Help me please!

Does she need to wear a hat for the next year? If so, we'll have to have it surgically put on because Mandy REALLy doesn't like things on her head. Unless it is a nice clean pair of underwear and then she has loads of fun putting them on her head. But not a hat. Only underwear.

It's difficult to get pictures of the back of Mandy because she is so eager to have her picture taken. So I bribed her with a whole box of Wheat Thins and she got to sit on the dining room table. See how serious I take this mullet problem?

Keep it...it just shows she's in the process...totally normal for this age and part of the fun of getting to see those pictures late on and putting a smile on your face!

I just went through some old pictures of Grace to see what her hair looked like at that age and found her first "real" haircut pictures when she was 16 months old. She had a lot more/fuller hair so we were able to keep it looking girly with bows which also kept her hair out of her face. Not sure if that'd be an option for Mandy or not!

I think you should leave it, it doesn't look bad and you can always cut it later if it drives you nuts.

I would probably trim it...BUT that's just because I am really scissor happy. I'm one of those girls who cut the hair off all my Barbie's, and then regretted it.

Honestly I don't think her hair looks that bad at all, and like Kellie said, you could leave it for now and see how it grows....then decide.

She'll be so cute, either way!

That's a hard one. I say keep it, but that is probably because I am not ready to cut Madison's. She has a different problem (long on sides behind her ears and short in the back from sleeping on her back still) Looks dorky but I am just not ready to put anything in her "first locks" box. No Seriously, I would keep it, especially since you cut Emma's. See what happens. If all else fails, you can always get some cute underwear!

Leave it be... It will end up just fine.

I trimmed Ady's quite a bit, her hair is growing fine, I never really whacked it, just trimmed the fuzzies as they grew out, and kept the neck line and bangs cleaned up a bit.

Just a tiny trim if you have to! maybe a little gel to cure the wispy's! I should talk just look at your own photos (if you can find any)and you will see I din't do anything- I left it to Grammy or aunt Caroline.

It looks fine, let it grow! From the lady that seems to only concieve boys thus making buzzes a monthly must.

Leave it, I think it looks pretty good. When Heidi finally started getting hair at about 18 months of age, It grew like crazy just around her ears. It was a good 3 inches longer than everywhere else, we could curl it behind her ears and then around to the front while the rest was about an inch. Now that was funny! I think Mandy's looks pretty good.

I couldn't see the "mullet" until you pointed it out. But it's not drastic at all and her blonde hair is so pretty. And I love Emma's cut! Okay that's my two cents..

I totally relate to this blog, Nora had a mullet just like this, I let it go forever, until I decided to trim it, it was worth it, It stopped bugging me, and she had an adorable little bob, I wondered why I waited so long... I think it's just really hard to cut your baby's hair!!!
