Thank you, thank you for the comments. I guess I need to whine more often! I appreciate hearing from my audience for many reasons. Reading comments encourages me and it is fun to see who is stopping by. I am not weirded out by "lurkers," but I enjoy knowing who you are. I have friends through this blog that I never would have met if they hadn't left a comments. It could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
From your comments, "Confessions of a Decorating Meddler" won, so I'll be posting about that shortly. From there, it will be on to "Hating My Baby Fat" and "Emergency Meals" (perhaps one has to do with the other... hmmm).
The comments on my blog have been, how shall I say this? Scarse. Funny thing is, traffic isn't scarse. One morning I checked at 7am and already people had stopped by from 3 continents and 4 US states. Howdy world! Why aren't you commenting?
This is a snapshot of PW's blog and on one post about thankfulness she had 867 comments. Sure she just published an amazing cookbook and she is wildly popular. Plus she updates her blog a couple times a day with witty writing. The small appliances she is constantly giving away probably help too. Since I don't have time to update a lot, I am witty only about 5.5 days a month, and I don't think anyone wants me to give away my very used and barely working small appliances, I don't stand a chance of getting 867.... ever.... in this lifetime. But I would settle for 10.
So why aren't you commenting?
- Is the keyboard on your computer broken?
- Do you have no idea how to comment?
- Did you accidently fall into my blog and couldn't wait to get out?
- Are you commenting on Facebook instead?
- Do you save your comments for posts where something is given away for free?
- Or are you still waiting for something witty on this blog?
I have things running through my mind all the time that I want to blog about. But I just don't feel in the mood to post them when so few are commenting (thanks to my faithful few). A few subjects that are burning a hole in my virtual brain: "Confessions: I am a Decorating Meddler," "Loving My Baby's Baby Fat and Hating Mine," "Scheduling Time for Change," and "Emergency Meal Plans."
Leave a comment on what post you want to see next and I'll post as soon as I have 867 comments. Joking. Joking. I'll post when I have 10 comments.

I don't comment all the time because reading your blog reminds me of my own blogging deficit and because I seldom have a comment worthy of the wit and whimsy you set forth in your posts.
Hi Alysun,
I am an avid Paradise reader. I feel the same way though about not having comments. I think for my followers it is easier for them to post comments on FB or just email me. Most of my readers are not bloggers and the don't get that you can comment without signing it but can't seem to figure it out.
I love commenting but don't want to feel like I am blabbering. I want to comment with something as equally witty as what you write and then can't think of anythig.
So here are a few comments that I hope make up for lack of other comments:
I LOVE the photo fo the three kids on the left. The Miss Matched Jammies is WONDERFUL! The new photos on the sidebar are my favorites yet!
Your blog about Cancun was WONDERFUL. What I wanted to say about it that I didn't was how great I thought it was that each of your three children have taken an adventure with you without their sibling/s along. I love your perspective and humility that come from your writing, not to mention the great moments you capture on 'film'. You were so brave to venture out of the country with a newborn, I was barely venturing out of the house when Mad was his age.
Okay on to the question of the day: I am torn between "Emergency Meal Plans" because well meal time always feels like an emergency around my house and "Loving my baby's baby fat and hating mine" because, well I can't get enough of photos of Remi's rolls!
Since this is so LONG, maybe this will count as TWO comments!
Scheduling time for change sounds like a good one to me, but emergency meal plans also sounds like a winner!
Love your blog, but I haven't been reading or writing recently. Lets blame it, along with everything else on the economy. :)
I felt the same way and almost deleted mine.
I do love your blog though :)
Hi Alysun! Still reading and loving it! Sometimes I don't leave comments because I don't have anything to say, sometimes because I don't have the time, and sometimes because I don't know exactly how to phrase my response. But I love your blog! And please don't start posting as much as PW Woman. To be honest, I often skip past her blog; it's just too much to keep up with it. But I do comment when she's giving away KitchenAids and Le Creuset!
I don't comment often because I don't have a blog myself. I also sometimes feel like a "lurker" since I don't know you personally (in the real world anyways!) and I wonder if it is just weird to have somebody you don't know posting comments about your life. I do subscribe to your RSS feed and enjoy your posts very much. Please don't stop. And if you like comments even from people like me, I will make an effort to comment more often.
Because I'm not supposed to be here! I'm supposed to be working! So by the time I get back to it the comments just don't seem fresh or necessary any more, sorry I'm not looking at it from your point of view I'm afraid many of your readers are just like me and I'm your mom! As to the next posts having been a pleased recipient I'll take Confessions of a decorating meddler:)
And guess what some of my friends have confessed to checking your blog for cancun pictures of us- they aren't FB people so missed those (they connected from phil's blog)
If I knew how to write a fun, witty and creative comment everytime I loved your posts, I would be writing a whole heck of a lot!! I know, I know. In this case quantity probably counts more than quality :) I also don't like to look "anonymus" even though I know you know me :) I love your blog, and when you post your upadtes on facebook I feel that is my easiest way to comment on your work. My other excuse, although valid, is TIME. Just writing this paragraph has taken me close to 15 minutes, thanks to three interuptions from the kids, and now I'm thinking that I should just delete and start over...!
You are inspiring, your children are beautiful, and your Paradise is fun to peek into, especially on days when it sure doesn't look that good here on my home turf. Keep up the writing and picture taking!!
~Jill V.
I've been wondering the same thing on my blog! They're still reading, just not commenting!
I'll try and do better here! :-)
Ditto to all of the above. I love your blog, Alysun. It is the first one that I go to because I know there will always be something very special there. I can't tell you how many times I have had a tear (or two) run down my cheek when you express your feelings about your children and husband. For those of us who have been there and done that, it is so precious to remember those days and relate a little bit, to the things that you write.
You have inspired me with my [new] blog and I love the fact that you share your photography. I feel that I can keep connected being so far away. I don't do FB but I do have a teenager who has lots of friends and I do peek once in a while but your blog is a work of art! Keep it up.
Uncle Ken wanted me to say, "You are a very gifted writer and photographer!"
I will do better. Now that I know what it is like to anticipate those comments. Thank you, by the way, for always leaving those words of encouragement.
Well, this is pretty long. Maybe It makes up for all those I didn't leave (but wanted to). Like Shawna, this should at least count for two!
My vote is the Decorating Meddler.
Hmm... I'm usually checking my blogs while one child cries and the other is complaining... Happy times;-)
I haven't left a comment because I'm one of those non-creepy blog stalkers! I found your blog through your cousin-in-law, Sara. I love reading your blog and I'll try to comment more! Oh, I'd like to hear your post on "loving my baby's baby fat and hating mine."
Ok, I don't read blogs except yours and occasionally resolvedtoworship. Your decorating ideas inspire me and your realness encourages me. Season
Ok, here's my comment. I don't comment, usually, because I don't have an account and have to be 'anonymous.' The only account password I have is yours (From MOPS) and it would be weird if you commented on yourself. :) And I do jump between facebook and here. Though, whenever you do post something new I always try and read it.
You're honest, real and you don't live your life so you can blog about it. You blog about the life you live. I think some moms can 'sugar coat' life experiences so they have something to write about; and I appreciate it that you don't! You're the same person here as you are in real life!
So far I think I'm the only vote for Decorating Meddling. You can meddle in my house anytime! Kelsey
I don't usually comment just because I can't think of anything to say. But I do read your blog consistently. :) You're a really good blogger!
So do we get a post for EVERY 10 comments? Almost to 20! :-)
Did I miss a contest? What blog is "Confessions: I am a Decorating Meddler" from?
I'm waiting for a giveaway! LOL! Actually, it just took my stinkin' internet connection a good 10 minutes and many "refresh"ments to simply get this comment window to open for me.
But, you KNOW I read your blog! And, I loved that you got to go to Cancun!! What a fun vacation!!
Wow! 20 comments so far! Is that a record? I have always had the same problem with my blog. I always hear of people who read my blog at least every week, but NEVER comment. I do leave comments, even if it's just a word or two...just so you know I'm reading and enjoying. Wish others would do the same...I don't need wordy comments. Just a little "hug" of a comment. :-)
I think scheduling time for change or decorating meddler would be fun.
Don't complain - you get way more comments than me....of course, you blog about more witty and interesting things than just your children and occasional couponing deals like I do. But still, when you complain, it's like rubbing it in my face that you get at least 5 times the readership and commenters than I do. =)
Seriously though, I appreciate all your comments on my blog and I read all of your posts but sometimes just don't have the extra few minutes that it take to leave a comment as well. AOh, and sometimes I comment on facebook if I see your post on there first.
Its hard to put something witty and relevant ... Also I feel like a stalker:)
and EMERGENCY MEAL PLANS followed by the rest, please:)
I have commented a time or two, but I felt like you may have been weirded out by the fact that I was sharing with you the coincidence that I stumbled upon your blog sometime ago and have been reading faithfully and come to find out you know a friend of mine that I used to go to church with in Phoenix,AZ. You never replied, therefore I thought you may not like non real life "friends" to comment.
I enjoy that you are real, wholesome, love the Lord and your family. And I am a wanna be photographer too!
I have a blog too, but I have not been able to write since my last post about my neice.
I confess that I've spent less time on the computer lately, though I usually try to leave comments when I get a chance to go through my Google Reader! I have actually been considering reposting my "How to Leave a Comment" post on my blog because I haven't seen more then 2 comments in a LONG while.
I usually just don't have much to say, but I do enjoy reading your blog. Sometimes I read it to my mom too.(Got to keep track of our DAC girls!) So you could count this comment as two in one. ^_^ I vote for a decorating blog, but mom probably votes for emergency meals. But to be honest, we'll read it either way!
I don't comment because I'm usually nursing a baby and trying to keep a 2 1/2 year old away from the keyboard...I do enjoy your blog though.
Keep writing Alysun. You make everyday life sound exciting and if it isn't leave some bag balm in reach... Jenni B
Hi Alysun,
I found your blog through a friend of mine. YOu went to bible school with her. I have throughly enjoyed reading your blog and admiring your awesome picutes. I frequently look at your photo blog also. I read all the time but have felt werid b.c i don't know you and that is why i have never left a comment. I wish you lived close enough to take pictues for me. anyways your blog is great.
Alysun, I read your blog all of the time and love being able to keep up with you, Jeff, and your adorable kids. I think you're the only cousins that I actually know what's going on in your life! Sorry for rarely commenting, I never seem to have anything interesting to say. I'll leave more comments as long as they don't bore you. :) I could really use some advise on "Emergency Meal Plans."
Deb
I'll take a small used appliance but I probably won't have much time to use it. I have to admit I have a small amount of envy that you are sooooooooo handy around the house and creative and frugal. All the things I am not. I actually look fwd to what you will write about next. You make me laugh. I've never left a comment for a few reasons ... I stumbled on your blog via Stacy and thought I knew you from working at DQ in Dallas but I think it was your sis?? Secondly I didn't figure you'd care what a stranger thought but most importantly because 99% of the time I am checking from my phone and it takes me a minute (with all the back spacing and starting over) to get an intelligent thought out. Thank God for autocorrect!!! Here's looking fwd to your next witty blog. Heather Davis (wasmundt)
*ahem* someone owes us a post :) I think you owe us three posts... OVER 30 COMMENTS!!!! It's official, your a rock star.
So, we were just reading your blog and Noah's question is: when can we go to Emma's house?
Hi Alysun! Let me chime in and be the 35th commenter on this post. I have read your blog since finding you through Lindsay Button a few years ago. I have loved reading about your creative decorating, your beautiful girls and the challenge of raising them and seeing very late in the game that you were due to have a son. Congratulations on a wonderful homebirth and the arrival of Remington. Count me in as a stalker that doesn't usually comment! Blessings to you and your sweet family.
i'm an old friend of andee's.... we were pregnant with our 1st babes together and did the birthing class together (which she never finished...). we originally met at church before my hubby and i were married.
*that* is why i don't comment. i feel a little too far removed to speak up and also live in fear of being accused of blog stalking. i guess i just outed myself. HA!
